Oh, Woe is Me (It’s My Birthday), or: Read This (There’s a Giveaway!)

I have a generally perky personality,* and only do grumpy for the first twenty minutes of every morning and a week either side of my birthday. Terrifyingly, for my nearest and dearest, we are currently living in the birthday danger zone. Luckily, for these nearest and dearest, this year I have decided to be nice(r).

While drawing the line at professional help – it’d take decades and I have places to be, people to see – I am embracing the birthday. (That sound you just heard was a few birds falling off their perches). This year, I am shouting it out loud, that I am not as close to forty as all my high school friends and celebrating with a pressie for a lucky someone.

For a chance to win a pack of five A5 Critter Cards, designed by me and printed on delicious, cottony stock with matching envelopes, just leave a comment and your name will go into the extremely official hat.

Oh and because I'm buying time for the odds to be slightly greater than one in five, comments close at the stroke of midnight (Melbourne time) this Sunday the 26th. Best of luck all and happy birthday to me, tra la la la la...

* For those who know me well, this isn't an invitation to suggest otherwise

Just poking my nose above the danger zone parapet, to see if I can snaffle the cards myself - Ha! In the meantime, I shall just grab that yardbrush and shovel to sort out the significant dead bird in the garden problem.

Ha! I see that the Mr. fancies himself as a contender - DENIED oh yee who wields a chainsaw from time to time - they are so very clearly MINE!

Oh and on the birthday front - when?

I saw you today and you don't look a moment older than the last time I spied you - GRIN!

In any case HAPPY BIRTHDAY SOMETIME - you'll LOVE whatever age you're turning - SMILE!

Those cards look fantastic! [fingers crossed] - just found your blog, most pleased I am! And hey, it's your birthday, you can be mean/throw tantys/cry/and expect presents every day for a week if you want to...(all of which, most unfortunately, will not cease the heavy steps of time. Sigh. Depressed yet? Send me the cards, it will make you feel better...
My word verification is "nermaspo". Natch!

LIFTING THE STAKES!

I don't wish to skew the random nature of the "name out of a hat" process BUT we have just finished harvesting our olive crop and are in the process of processing said harvest.

And I repeat: Boyfriend hat, boyfriend hat.

The birthday is the 26th. Sunday is the day the Mr and my mother (poor Mums always cop it!) walk on eggshells. So far I'm still tra-la-la-la-la-ing...

I won't dare ask why you are grumpy around your birthday! Me...I make a birthday week of it.
But as I am knocking on the 40 year old door (can you believe it dear cousin?) I may have some complaining to do...down the track!
Love your exquisite cards! Count me in this little give away..
Have a great birthday regardless!

As my 18 month old critter would say in her best bogan "'at's mooooorne. moy tuuuuurn'. Your critters are stunning. Happy Birthday to you.

Happy Birthday for Sunday! I agree with Jen, celebrate for the week. I'm always princess for the week in our house during the first week of Jan. Not that princess is always the easiest person to live with... lamenting all those new extras (extra smile lines, extra gray hairs...) :))

Thank you for popping in and visiting me too. Lovely to see that my ramblings don't go completely unnoticed!

By the way, my easter tree is kinda past the growing stage too... old twisted willow twigs. But you're right, they do look pretty.

xx

My mum is 72 and is a total inspiration...she has never really acknowledged ageing and just has a fantastic life. She is out nearly every night of the week, has lots of interesting, different aged friends, travels and is fun to be around. Its not that she is trying to be young..she is just being her! She is my role model and I try not to even think about what number I'm up to. Also birthdays are a good way to spoil yourself and enjoy yourself!!! Have a wonderful day and by the way, those cards are beaut! x

Not buying in to 'perky' nor 'grumpy' argument. I would just go for fab, with a brilliant turn of phrase and a sense of the quirky.

Just trying to decide whether the twin prompt for birthday wishes and offering a give-away is a creative way of seeing just how many avid readers you have... TONS.

Have an indulgent day, won't you.
And best of luck to Mr and your mother.

the sound you just heard... is me falling of my chair. Since when is your b'day tra la la? I can even remember the years that is was not allowed to mention 'the word'.

But he dropje... I'm impressed so stay tra la la, also the week afterwards ;-)

And those postcards, the are lovely but if you can make someone else happy.... I just expect one by post with a lovely message (or am I overasking by now?)

have lovely pre-birthday time.

Happy Birthday. My Mr. just had one 3 days ago. He was happy to "finally be as old as me". (I'm 2 months older.)
On the subject of birthdays, I figure that if you're having one it's better than the alternative (NOT having one). So anytime I feel like pissing and moaning about my own passage of time, I consider the alternative. (Although, I suspect I'll be less philosophical when face-to-face with the big Four-Oh.)

Throw my name in the hat too, please!

Happy Birthday - Pick me!! I love your designs.
I had a nan who was still crochetting at 108 when she died. I'm on the bad side of 40 and feel I've got at least as long as her. Anyway your only as old as you feel....aren't you?
