Bits of Perfect

I just thought I’d stop and breeeeeaaaaaathe for a minute.

I’m doing that thing where I have too much going on, am trying for an extreme sport version of juggling and lo, all the balls are around my feet. Once again, I’m finding myself doing a lot, none of it that well. Although today I did a better job at being at the design conference. Rather than aiming to productively come up with work-related ideas during the, er, less interesting speakers, today I just decided to drink it all in. So instead, during the, er, less interesting speakers, I managed a spot of surreptitious knitting, scribbled down spontaneous, un-fought-for (the best kind), work-related ideas and had a small snooze. Yet tonight there was a knot of unproductive anxiety lurking in my throat and in the name of procrastination, denial and clearing my head, I went in search of nice things to look at...

A friend presented this apple to me, not long after I posted about a pear (pair). Gifted amid the chaos of a Friday school pick up, we both marvelled at it’s very red and very large perfection. Meanly, I refused to allow the kids a taste for ages, because I was too busy admiring it on the mantel. It also presented an opportunity for cackling good fun, roleplaying the Evil Stepmother and Snow White, (me the fairest one of all).

I found another bit of perspective and ‘perfect’ from a more summery time. The Mr and the eldest, engaging in contagious belly-laughing, trampoline-bouncing, thrillseeking activity. Amazingly no animals (underneath the trampoline), children or partners were hurt in the making.

PS. My hearty thanks to all who left very helpful stain removal advice! I am also now aware that Auntie Myrtleandeunice is an official Stain Removal Expert (there are even ‘completion of course’ credentials). I’ll let you know if there are further tricks to share right after a good catch-up chat...

Most excellent - so glad you're holding off from having a conniption (you were right! http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=conniption)

Gosh you take mighty fine photos woman - like profesh-on-ale and stuff. Beautiful tramp shot - nothing like a jumping induced belly laugh. Keep breathing :)

Trampolines fill me with anxiety. I admire your ability to take a photo whilst standing near one. My nerves are shot from many years of intensive child rearing - tramps just push me over the edge. Apples, however, I can embrace. Gosh, that's one hell of an apple, x

t is one sensational apple! No way would I have let anyone eat that, either :-) I'm glad you had a nap and found such fun happening on the trampoline. I hope you become a master juggler tomorrow!
