Starting Again

It’s more than six years since Mr Myrtleandeunice and I hauled ourselves, a 14 month old and a four month old bump halfway across the world and landed with quite a different bump (the bruising kind) back in my country, ready to start a new life. It was a tricky time of finding footings and setting roots, of 5am commutes for faraway University lecturing, of no furniture and a new baby. There was a lot of not-feeling-quite-right-ness for me and the small panic that goes with that, when you are supposed to be ‘home’. Nothing like kids to keep the feet grounded and after a while things were mostly pretty good. Throughout this rollercoaster-ish time, the Mr and I did an appalling job at maintaining contact with a lovely bunch of English friends and a few kindred spirits.

Late last week, the Mr bumped into one of these kindred spirits – or her website. Since then, there have been dashed off emails, excited updates and a sort of picking up right where we left off. While Susanna is still an unbelievably talented modelmaker, she is now also an artist. Her work takes my breath away.

And there’s much more to see over here.

Oh yes, I know that feeling very well. I also know how exciting it is to reconnect with like-minded souls from times past. I did just that a couple of weekends ago. Was wonderful.

Hi, Tania.
These are gorgeous!
I feel for you with the 2 babies. I have 2 grandkids about the same age. Both still in diapers! They are the love of my life but they wear me out!
Thanks for stopping by my blog.
