My Creative Space: The Germ of an Idea

I keep coming back to Dorothy’s magical red shoes for my Quilt Project square idea. The only glitch is, I haven’t much of a clue how to make it happen. As per usual with this crafty malarkey, it will be on a wing and a prayer – and a steep learning curve of the embroidery (or something) kind...

Disclaimer
I reserve the right to decide at the eleventh hour that Dorothy’s magical red shoes are a decidedly bad idea and come up with something entirely unrelated, but nonetheless red.

Click your heels and head on over to the Hostess with the Mostess (of Creatives Spaces AND quilty projects)...

Germ of an idea should be re-titled 'Gem of an idea'. What a fantastic block yours will be!

Now that would definitely be cute - especially if you sewed on lots of glitzy red beads and sequins on Dorothy's shoes!

It's perfect Tania. P-e-r-f-e-c-t1 Just as you hesitantly described and way better than I imagined.

Do it, go on, do it....

It is perfect idea and imagine how much fun you could have sewing on red sequins!

PS: Love the disclaimer. It made me laugh!

That is a cracker of an idea - especially with a bit of bling on the shoes!

Love it! I'm really looking forward to seeing it happen. Everyone who's joined in on the quilt project is so brave - I chickened out in the end. I'm admiring all the work in progress - so diverse yet all really great (yours included) :-)

I think the design is perfect T. Wise idea to put it out there too!

Now for the advice - the way to make it happen is to transfer the design and do all your outline stitching! The only real question will be how to do the blocks of colour. If sequins aren't your thing, you could try stabbing yourself and bleeding onto the calico?

helpfully yours, G

ps word verification is 'hacklist'. I think that's what I just gave you!

I love it ! You seem to be able to do anything you set your hand to ..........so the WizofOz on a quilt square should hold no fears at all .

I can't wait to see this! I love the idea, but I have no idea about how it should all come together. Never mastered that art.

Good luck! :)

I reckon 'seat of your pants' flight can be very similar at times to riding a tornado in slowly shredding farm house... but I'm sure you'll accomplish it in true pristine Dorothy style. I'm looking forward to seeing it finished and the song and dance number, including munchkins of course. : )
