My Creative Space: Not All Japanese

Except it was all Japanese for a while there. The World of Gocco Printery has, until this week, steeped itself in mystery. And even though Christie kindly supplied an English translation of the Japanese instructions that came with her (and now - YAY! - my) excellent-condition Gocco, they may as well have been in Ikea Swedish.

In the end, I watched a YouTube how to or two and went for the ‘winging it’. Of course I’m probably doing it all wrong, but this stuff is really, really, obsessively, addictively, ooooh, maybe-just-one-more-then, FUN. Even with a small, non-napping child sitting on my head, I managed to create thirty cards, on lovely rich cottony Fabriano paper, for a bug-loving birthday kid. The bug-loving birthday kid needs but one. There is now a necessity to meet 29 other bug-loving birthdaying kids.

There’s a whole lot more inefficiency going on. Any internet connection is running sooooo slow chez Myrtle & Eunice, that it is quite possible for a piping hot cup of tea to become stone cold and then entirely evaporate before any interwebby anything has occurred within cooee of my computer. A good portion of the next week shall no doubt be spent listening to ‘hold’ music and hearing how important me and my call are to some internet service provider. You can see why I’d be doing heel digging in.

Not that I have been around blogland yet (the evaporating tea thing), but I bet my bottom dollar there’s a whole truckload of crafty (What? What Easter?) efficiency, via the My Creative Space Hostess with the Mostess...

Oh, I am so jealous. I do not have the time OR the money for Gocco, but it doesn't stop me from looking wistfully and envisioning all the amazing things I could create. Do a few extra on my behalf, ok?

Oh that is just perfect!! Maybe you could use them as invites to a boys birthday party, or as tags on future birthday gifts. Maybe a card swap?

Have fun :)

Ooh! So inspiring. I bought a Gocco a little while back and have been too scared to use it...what with dwindling supply stocks and such. I think you've inspired me to get it out and finally use it!

Oh I really ant to learn this! I only recently figured out what it even was (via a very sheepish "um ... I know I should know what this is but ..." question to my sister) and have since realised it may be the thing I need to reach a certain crafty idea I have (one of those "think tank" moments. In fact the only one I have ever had).

Love the autumny colour scheme of the cards. Oh and may the force be with you on the telco issues.

Wow oh wow. They are divine little caterpillars. I hope that your real life crafting makes up for your lack of cyberspace achievements for the time being.

Great cards, even for the non-bug lovers amongst us. Well, you know, I mean *real* bugs, I'm not keen on them is all I'm saying, but I love yours.

I'm surprised you stopped at 30...that ink just goes & goes & goes!

That reminds me I need more screens!

Gorgeous. And to think you managed that with a small child on your head!

Oh my, some gocco goodness! How I'd love to get my hands on some.... but I think my plate is full enough these days!

Super design too, shades of 'Very Hungry Caterpillar' but cuter!

Errr... you gocco, girl.

Your little 'pillar looks like he has a slightly greener diet than Mr Hungry Caterpillar himself - probably means he'll be more regular.

Food for thought.

I haven't seen any other gocco stuff this week though! And only a few Easter things. Perhaps we all leave it to the last minute?! I do love your cards. My poor gocco has just been gathering dust. Naughty me! :)

ADSL a bit laggy?

This might be teaching Grandma to suck eggs but

i) have you exceeded your downloads for the month? check online

ii) have you restarted your modem? It's amazing how much that can improve things.

great stuff love! i. want. a. gocco. too. now. do you think it could be done with 2 non-napping kids on the lap too?

it's not inefficiency, it's a call to open a wee shop with all your extras. Your bugs are gorgeous! Nightmare for gardeners, but in print, just fab. Gocco sounds messy, I don't do messy (not the dirt kind of messy, just the untidy sort of messy) but I can see how it would get addictive with such lovely results.

Sorry for your internet troubles, hope it gets fixed SOON!

Cheers,
AJ

Wow, look at you go! Gotta love a 'Can Do Gal', seriously puts me to shame (she types whilst casting a fugitive glance at the dust covered Gocco in the corner!) Gocco loveliness with kid on head ~ great title for a gallery piece! : )

I would like a gocco too, please.

Can you recommend a good reading=up source, so that I can sound knowledgeable when I start to bid on ebay and have to explain to husband why he should be happy several hundred squids have gone from the bank account in the name of "educating"?

Thank you.

I had no idea you could do that with a Gocco. I'm a Gocco novice and had only seen black and white work. I love the little caterpillar. How about gift card sets for the teachers? Good luck with the 'puter problem. Lisa x

It makes me very very pleased so see some paint and printing and fun stuff happening over your way. Can I assume the daily 3-minute idea sessions are back on track?
