Tangled

Apologies in advance for more excessive than usual coherence issues. I’m suffering from tangled brain, after a weekend-headache doozy. Not that things should prove much different from the usual witterings around here. A while back, a friend took me to one side and threatened to put one of my posts through an official readability test-thingy. To prove a point. I have little doubt that made-up wordage, dubious punctuation and excessive bracketing and hyphenation, dictates a sure-fire, resounding fail. Faffing on about tangled skirt embroidery is unlikely to help today’s case.

Aforementioned, completed, tangled embroidery – pretending to be wool – because at time of sewing I felt like knitting, except now after enjoying the stitching so much, I really like it and maybe, possibly, I have some sewing mojo back after all. (Nuffin’ wrong with that sentence).

It has also been brought to my attention, that the Mr doesn’t think there is anything wrong with see-through skirt (and so therefore failed to mention until questioned). The eldest saved my school-drop off dignity (and hers) with wide-eyed alarm. I can report that I am now wearing skirt, complete with lined, retrofitted decency.

In other sewing mojo news, the eldest has three gnome hats to take to class. ‘H’ for Hundred, ‘T’ for Thousands, ‘O’ for Ones. Gnome hat themed maths lessons. Obviously.

Before I forget, the Middle kid also perfected his ‘eye roll’ over the weekend. It took two entire weeks of school holiday practise.

Cor, it's HOT. Which is precisely the point I thought the pointy trio of hats was making, actually, but seems I'm dyslexic. But let me get back to the skirt. HOT I tells ya.

See - I knew the tangle would be magnificent. Love it & the tangle of words & the fact that the Mr failed to mention the see-through-ness. Not much wrong with the construction of my sentences either.

Hope the headache is done!

skirt is fabulous- love the embroidery and I thought H.O.T stood for hundreds of thousands as in hundreds and thousands cake /icecream toppers....
it seems your Mr and mine have similar ideas about clothing - for example the answer to the question " is this showing off too much boob?' will always be "no way" the answer to "is this to short?" will always be "no way" etc etc etc

Perfection, as always.

MAddie perfected the eye roll 6 months ago...what hope do I have?

Hmmm, I get the squiggly headaches too. I think they're a sign of creative brain (like the messy gene I have)!
Faaabulous skirt!!!! Four exclamation marks good. Love the marley/denimy red and the embroidery. Perfect :-)
Love the three gnomes too and that is one hell of an eye roll, time well spent I say!

First, I LOVE that skirt! And I don't often get that excited about this sort of thing. I LOVE it, I say! The tangledness is perfect.

Second, I love your writing, tangled or not. And I used to be an editor and a writer, and I know all the "rules" and such, too, so there. I quite like your style and usually understand it, to boot! ;)

I love the skirt and those gnome hats, awesome

i concur with all statements of skirt's loveliness.

Also, thinking Aurora and I should give eye rolling lessons :) Being the goddess of nasty/weird/silly faces and having passed this gene onto Aurora there are few moments in our lives not punctuated with obnoxious eye twitches, rolling, etc.

Love the skirt with the tangled thread! I always enjoy reading your posts and they make me laugh. Love those math gnome hats, does he do the eye rolling whilst wearing the hat or only when he is asked something, lol!

Falling over myself with da love for that there bit of skirt. Oh and for what it's worth I reckon your posts aren't long enough! I just get settled in and then it's over. And I am all for brackets (i know I use FAR too many of them) and made up-ness but unlike you I also use far to many exclamation points!!!!!

Dig the eye rolling. x

There's nothing wrong with your blog. It's quirky, I like quirky!

That skirt is awesome dude.

Headaches suck, the skirt is magnificent and the kids look adorable although it does look like you have stuck dunces hats on them despite you trying to convince us otherwise. x

Being rather punctuation impaired and admitting a slight bent for interesting words, I find that you always make perfect sense.

Skirt is gorgeous, hats are brilliant, eye roll...perfection!

It takes a good two weeks to truly master a good eye roll.

Loving that tangled embroidery...your little'ns are to die for in their math hats. Do they conceal pointy heads from a well developed maths brain??

So much good stuff here, where to start?

I don't know what it says about my tangled brain (or propensity to 3 day headaches) but I understand you just fine and have never noticed any grammatical/punctuational errors/creativity!?

That skirt is all kinds of excellent. Will look especially effective when worn while knitting with red yarn!

Lining is generally a good idea in a skirt - helps to stop the seat bagging out. But for absolute comfort in wearing dresses and skirts - culotte slip. That is, a slip made like culottes! Out of Bremsilk/cupro is the best think ever.

Those hats! Those kids! Do you xmas card pictures? That one is a winner eye roll and all. I mean he's got to retain some dignity in a family of crafty women (and that little one looks very crafty ;-) )

Dunces caps.... beards and a toadstool to sit on will sort that. For sure the teacher will have a toadstool sorted, right?

All around A+ - love it!!!

with an added ration of !!!!!

Cheers,
AJ

Looks like Mr Messy decided to unravel on your skirt! It looks fantastic.
Mmm, the eyeroll, there's another thing they don't mention in the parenting books. God help us!

I think your migraine-hangover post surpasses my good-day posts, frankly!

Rambliness aside, the skirt is completely luvver-ly, and the need for retrofitted decency gave me a giggle.

But one thing... H=Hundreds, O=Ones, T=Tens, not thousands, surely?

Emjie said...

The gnome hats are cute as.

Love the skirt, love the gnome hats... but that eye roll takes the cake ;) Kx

Tarn,
Love the skirt, your writing, the cute gnome hats and lovely photo of your kids!
Just a little question (I blame the teacher in me) do you mean Tens which technically are in the middle of the Hundreds and ones?
You will have to wear another hat with TH for thousands!
Jen xo
ps also love the eye roll..I will need to teach him the one eyebrow raise!

Love the tangle. And, I think it's a husband thing. Mine doesn't let me know either if I'm wandering around in a see through skirt.

Gnomes hats to school.

I obviously need to relocate and stop this home ed lark.

I want my children to go to a school where gnome hats are uniform.

(I know that they aren't really uniform but my lot won't know that when I print out the picture and tell them this is what kids wear to school in Oz.)

I love your blog, it always cheers me up. And I esp love it when we get pics of the kids. And I tried that lemon/coconut cake todau - just perfect for me - very easy, and very delicious.
Hope you are all well.

So I reckon I'm pretty good at keeping up with you but I felt a bit dizzy in that first paragraph!!!

To me the "readability" is in the wonderful funny true warm smile inducing words that you give us all! Insert hyphanated eyeroll bracket and soothing lavender & peppermint thoughts re headache. xx

ps The mr & your kids look like pretty cool humans indeed.
