In Case You Were Wondering...

Those three cheeky, nudey elephants...

are now clothed, birthday gifted (one of them, six months in advance)...

raising havoc, running riot...

and wilfully ignoring the trampoline Only Two at a Time rule.

In other news, I survived the two party weekend unscathed (apart from the too much cake thing). For the first time ever, we opted out of the homespun kid party approach and worked hard to justify the cost of Dinosaur Diggers entertainment.

While I’ll be strictly upholding the Kid Party Every Two Years (also for reasons of sanity) rule, this sort of fossilised entertainment was worth every penny.

Sandra (very much not a fossil), had seventeen budding paleontologists (fifteen kids, plus the Mr, plus myself) EATING FROM THE PALM OF HER HAND. We love Sandra.

In case you were wondering, the kid emerged entirely undigested...

and the unsuspecting Mr O’Saurus suffered only superficial bite wounds...

Now...who’s for leftover cake?

Two parties?!?
You are a legend!
Gotta love the outsourcing of party entertainment, and that looks like a party they will be talking about for a while!!

Yes I thoroughly believe in the party every two years deal however I am going to convince small boy that his can start from four (next year) which coincides with the big girl's "off" year - phew!

Oh and yes please to cake. Glad the party weekend was a success!

Those elephants are so cute and I love the look of the dinosaur party.

Gee my kids better not read that...the deal is a party in Prep and then when they turn double figures...and then when they reach their teens...experience has shown that by the time the teen thing happens they'll forgo the party for a more expensive pressie...am I a bad mother?

cake, cake, cake! I'd love some, especially if it comes with icing! I don't think I've been using the old 'eating for two' excuse nearly enough

Very fun party, looks like. We're still early in the game and might change our minds later, but we've settled on a "milestone" party rule, meaning we have parties at the "big" birthdays, like 1, 5, 10.... Only problem is I'm not sure what constitutes a milestone. :)

Forget nude elephants..that last photo really cracked me up! I can almost hear Sandra doing her dinosaur growl from here!! Looks like a fun party xo

I was unaware of the party every two years rule and hereby plan to impliment this rule. We have started planning Chef's 40th bash in November, if only I could take him to see dinosaurs it would be much easier....

Ooh love those elephants and had a giggle that they were ignoring the 2 at a time jumping on the trampoline rule. I must tell my elephants that when I actually get around to making them! Party every 2 years sounds wonderful, pity that I cant implement that rule in the next 2 weeks!

How on earth did you manage to get your elephants to jump so nicely together for the camera? I'm adding Elephant Trainer, to you list of accomplishments.

That party must have won you some serious mummy points - very cool.

Glad you survived. Nice long gap now!

Cheers,
AJ

Cake? did someone say cake? (looks around in anticipation...)
Amazing party idea- will have to try to remember that one for the years to come...

Now I want to know who got double jumped and ended up in tears?

CurlyPops said...

PS - Did someone mention cake? I'll be right over. Do you accept visitors in pj's and moccasins?

Fabulous party idea. And your elephants are stylin'.

I'm impressed with your trampoline photography.

I doubt I could get away with the every second year party thing, you definitely have to set that up early in their partying life, I reckon. Apart from a rock-climbing party this year, which was a way of making it up to the January summer holidays baby who never gets to invite schoolmates to his party, we've always done the homespun party too.

Cake? No thanks after two birthday cakes in two successive weekends around here. I might end up looking like Parsley, or Beet, or thingamijigwhateverhisnameis.

how cool is that....

Can I check whether the flagrant disregard of the two-on-the-trampoline rule was followed by three-elephants-knocking-heads-and-crying-softie-tears?

High fives to you Mrs on both the two-year party rule (really sensible - must adopt) and the dinosaurs (really ace - must try!).

Love the elephants, and the dino party sounds terrific!!

Truth be told, I am sulking.

I have a 7 year old who would have gladly braved the flight to the othersideoftheworld for such an awesome party.

We have no super cool dino people here - and we are jealous.

It looks truly awesome (and the elephants are pretty cool too!)

Well at least I know what to do for Caleb's brithday party this year!
I wish we had every 2 year rule, that is what happens when you marry a man who was never allowed a birthday party - we have to have one every year.
Eles looks seriously cute and the birthday boy has just the right amount of rithday glow

Great effalumps. And that part sounds cool..but you know now you've gone fancy, theres no turning back. It's like the first time I gave in to the babycino.

That party looks amazing. I'd have loved that when I was a kid.

The ellies look amazing too.

How did I actually not read this post? Was wondering about the reference to cake in the following post... duh. Couldve scrolled down but noooooo...

Anyway, you've blown it now with that Dinosaur business. No more lame fairy bread from the house of M&E ever again! It looks like a great idea I must say... storing it away for, oh, the boys' 21st.
