My Creative Space: SIT!

It seems most anything I touch these days, morphs into a cushion. I’m going through some sort of phase. Fear not, I sense it’s nearly ended. The ‘Thing’ I was pottering around with over the weekend is now seated on the sofa. Although the Thing Cushion is about the most unsnuggly something you could hope to cuddle up to. Despite a wash, that linen needs living in for a while. It needs to put it’s feet up and relax. At the moment it’s coming over all uptight, edge-of-seat, arty farty.

The back of the Thing Cushion is more of the same screenprinted disaster remnants, only in strips. I like strips, because they aren’t all ’round symmetrical like squares are. This is also why I have three children (because two girls and a boy is not symmetrical). If I had a fourth child, there’s a danger things wouldn’t feel right until we had five. Best stick with rectangular cushion strips.

Half of me likes the back better.

And that screenprinted hand I was playing around with a couple of weeks ago? Just another excuse for cushioned sofa sitting. And signage. There’s also a signage phase happening. A wee while ago I came dangerously close to cross stitching that male/female toilet symbol on a cushion. Hmn.

Enough chitter chatter. SIT!

Have a cup of tea, stay awhile.

Righto then. Time to GO!

Hope that the uptight, but rather attractive, cushion learns to relax soon... and love that Pythonesque hand!

I'm really loving the idea of turning that cush to "go" when guests get up to use the bathroom!

Fabulous work as always.

Will you be selling the pointer cushions this weekend? Love the fact that it can tell people to leave too. Lol

I've never been ordered around by a cushion before....not even such a fabulous one.

Poor old cushion suffering from a bit of stress, perhaps he's just waiting to be loved and then he will relax?
It's gorgeous Taniaxo

Love both of those cushions! I think I'm fond of the striped back, too.

When a cushion is that attractive I think it knows it can get away with not having the softest of personalities.

I'm loving the cushion phase. Your cushions are all winners. But I am wondering what the next phase might be.

You and your bossy cushions!

I love your cushions and I hear you about the cushions phase I am in the middle of one myself.
Also love odd numbers, even makes me feel uneasy, I don't like symetrical either....maybe that is why i don't have another baby!? I always like that we are three!

But I have a fear of the number 9. It is very anxiety producing for me.

Mel said...

Yes love odd numbers and non-round shapes and LOVE your cush phase! I have no doubt that Thing will get plenty of softening from Thing One, Thing Two and Thing Three :)

Haha. That's very cool. I've been thinking that I really need to go through a cushion phase. Mine are all looking very sad.

Oh I do love you! Your lovely red and yellow pillow actually gave me butterflies and I actually started OUT LOUD, "OH I WANT IT!" eh-hem, sorry. Might need to start medicating myself. ALSO I think cushions should come with more fingers!

I love your cushions (have a bit of an obsession myself) - I think the thing cushion looks so inviting that its likely to soften down with use in no time at all!

Why has no one thought of this before? The perfect cushion for anyone who's outstayed their welcome - love it!!

The beauty of linen is that it does give in after a while and says, "aw come on then, give us a hug!"...

Both cushions are fabulous. Hmmmm, might have to rethink my ones. They're looking very tired and in need of pick-me-up.

Does the finger sometimes point towards cake?

Yes... the toilet sign cushion is disaster all over! Don't go there.

Loving all the rest of your cushions though... can you have too many? Me thinks not.

I get loving the asymmetry, but I think the front has a certain asymmetry of its own, despite the squares, and I love the wildness of it. The back is nice, certainly, but less wild. Anyway, the whole thing is gorgeous. Love those colors together.

The pointing finger is also great--and you're hilarious.

A Spoonful Of Sugar said...

Amazing Tania - love your creative flair. The signage cushion is also very cool.

sophie said...

So, so pretty! The colours are fantastic and dare I say festive!!

My favourite is the finger, boy do I use mine way too many times a day, a cushion would be so much more subtle.

Melanie Gray Augustin said...

Oh you do really make me chuckle! The patchwork cushion looks great and I just love the hand. It would be great for unwanted guests :)

SmitoniusAndSonata said...

I couldn't think what signage was . It sounds like an Irish playwright or something .
But once I saw that fabulous pointing finger cushion the penny dropped .
I think that modern warning "This ---- is alarmed" , as in "This cushion is alarmed" needs to be added to your collection .

I've got some sewn together was-going-to-be-a-table-runner squares thing.

Now I know what to make with them.

For Christmas, please may I have a SIT! pillow - and can it please have the magic ability to make children sit at will (my will)?

(and PS your "chilly bits down below" comment made me giggle for all the wrong reasons ;) xxx

If ever I had a bit of a cushion covet, it would be now. Yes, there I've said it, I covet your cushions!

overheard at the incredibly packed

finders keepers markets on the weekend:

male partner to girlfriend," You know how I feel about decorative cushions..."

It was the quote of the night after that.. I presume he wasn't into them.
