Big Little

The Small of the House starts kinder today and that is what she thinks about starting kinder today.

The Small of the House also thinks this about starting kinder today:

I do so remember, how she feels.

This little one of mine, does not really think that she is small. She is mostly drawn to older kids and hasn’t yet figured out what really makes mini kids tick.

She’s so ready. And not ready. And it seems she has inherited my unfortunate sticky-out-tongue concentration technique.

I wanted to make something for her and just before the sweltering heat began, I cast on a Milo vest in a luscious watermelony yarn and I cabled Mama hugs and kisses because that’s what I would like to wrap her in. But I shall be calm and careful and confident and encouraging.

Today is still way too hot for my kinder kid to wear a Milo vest, so we popped it in her kinder bag. And I tucked my heart in there too.

Oh my, what a big day it is for the both of you! We are half way through our kinder year and I think we are still both feeling a little bit of your top 2 photos.
The vest is so gorgeous and again it makes me almost want to knit. As my girl was telling me a story this morning it ended with, "And they ALMOST lived happily ever after." Not sure what it has to do with anything but it made me giggle:)

I wish I was so talented with a knitting needle! I am a basic square girl but getting there slowly!!.....Good luck today, a huge step in life. My little girl too has the sticky out concetration tongue, inherited from her father!

I had one of those kinder-kids-who-only-likes-older-kids-but-is-otherwise-so-ready-for-kinder. Worried myself sick about her not blending in with her peers.... and by the end of the year, realised I had nothing to worry about - she'd blended (and learned about Lady Gaga and High Five, unfortunately).

That kid looks so much like you!!!... although the sticky-out tongue is probably a bit cuter on her.

Isn't she just the most darling little one - how lovely to see her so ready / not ready. Loved the tongue-thing! :) Got all warm and fuzzy when I saw her kinder bag too. I'll be thinking of her ALL day :) Kx

p.s. Hope you'll be okay too, Mrs. That first day of school rattling around an empty house thing can be pretty hard. Make sure you get out and do something, okay? :)

Hope she has a great time at kinder. She'll probably be the one the other kids are drawn to, because she seems grown-up!

I'm completely in denial that this day will ever come. I love that she's inherited your concentration technique... too sweet!

Aw. I'll be sending my girl off to preschool in August, and I'm already feeling nervous and teary. She'll love it, but she'll have a hard time with it too, and so will I. Being a mom is tough! I love that little vest, and the hugs and kisses knit into it.

Big day for you all, what a massive event. She's dressed for making friends, who could resist the girl in red??
On my 32nd birthday i left all 4 of mine at school & preschool, i ran home & listened to the silence, i missed them but it kind of made me love them even more!! I remember giggling to my husband down the phone "i've done it, i've done it, i raised them ALL to school" & he picked me up for lunch. Now it's high school down to year 2, still super exciting, i just embrace school holidays, put 100% into that mummy time with children as i know i get a break & again, run around the house in silence. Love Posie

Beautiful. And very funny- Ha ve had this pattern on Ravelry in an open window on my computer for a week now and I can't decide whether to buy it or not. I LOVE the vest but am I really going to knit it and CAN I really knit it? I'll give it to tomorrow and make a decision. Love the red. xo m.

Picture number two bears some resemblance to the photo in your previous post, seems she's inherited the smile as well!

I bought that pattern and some delicious wool to knit it with last winter...must add it to my project list. It looks fabulous!

Awww, makes me all teary. My first baby's first baby started school today. That made me all teary too.

I'm sure the day went fantastically for her. I love the hugs and kisses Milo.

My littlest is off too, next week, and he is indeed little, not turning 3 til the twelfth.
I don't think I am ready..

oooh the cuteness! I hope she had a fabulous first day! Made all the more cute mind you by the fabbo Milo (half way through my first one for a 3 mth old size and it looks like it'd fit my five year old ... hmmm). Luca recently said, "Mummy, I'm a little bit big and a little bit little". Well said I thought.

She's so cute! I hope her first day went well. I too stick out my tongue when I concentrate and I've never grown out of it :)

Hope it went well for both of you! She's got quite a cute tongue. :)

I'm loving this post for so many reasons. Not least of which is the Concentrating Tongue. My own sweet Sunday does this too, as did her paternal grandfather who was known for his seriously out there C.T. Hope it all went well and that your sweetie & your heart came back in one piece xo

hope it all went well, with hopefully more of second photo than first... and I love the idea of cabling hugs and kisses into clothes - just beautiful
