This and That

THIS...

is what was in my mailbox. Beautifully printed and crafted by Emily, of Millicent Crow. My swap brooch is all kinds of wonderful, has just the right amount of QUIRK and works best, right there,

on my wintry coat.

(Again, my hearty thanks to you, Emily and to the excellent Swap Hostess with the Mostess)....

THAT...

is the look on the new computer box and is the very same look as the one on my face, when my old computer died at 9.07am Wednesday. Due to work deadline freakout, the new one was sourced and sitting on my desk by 11.30am. Now that I’m over bill shock, the new ’puter brings THIS...

look to my face.

THAT...

is the sad state of knitty affairs. I hope there isn’t a limited amount of knitting stitches one can achieve in a lifetime and that I’m not permanently on strike. My urge to NOT knit is alarming. Foreign. Bewildering. My world is ROCKED. ROCKED!

THIS...

is a Dinosaur Egg update. In creakingly slow fashion, the green is a growin’. So is that strange white spotty mould-stuff, affliction-thing. I may live to regret this little exercise.

THAT...

is the Middle’s Birthday Wish List. Apparently his dream Metl Dtecta is one that detects more than nails in a floorboard and maybe even works under water. Another pressie on the list is a Reel Dinasur Tuf. Tips?

Have a weekend of gloriousness, all!

I'm quite keen on the white bits - it's looking very very pretty. And the computer ... almost had that moment a few weeks ago ... dreadful feeling ... so sorry you had to have bill shock. As for the knitting, hmmm. Maybe you need a new project! Enjoy the weekend :-)

I have ample knitting mojo to share. You can come and borrow some of mine till your own decides to come home.

Pretty, pretty egg. No regrets. It looks fab.

Bloody computers. I don't like them when they aren't working perfectly and doing exactly what I want them to do right now and very quickly ;)

felt it about time for an update on the egg.
Sorry to hear about your computer, they have a knack for conking at the worse times possible.
as and for the lack of knitting mojo, i've found whenever I've had a craft related mojo crisis, the worst thing I can do is panic- perhaps there's something new and exciting waiting for you while it takes a break xo

Your faces in things are hilarious! My face would have looked like that also if my computer died! Hoping your loss of knitting mojo returns soon. Maybe it is confused by this sunny weather we've been having in Melbourne and thinks it's summer again...

For once I'm glad you all live in the Antipodes .... I'm not sure Friesland's ready for pop-up dragons just yet .Though the organic dinosaur egg would fast become a National Treasure anywhere .
( That bag looks half-seas over . Did you perhaps celebrate your new computer too heartily? )

Oh my... there are so many wonderful things here... all kinds of wonderful things here... that I hardly know where to start! Still laughing actually... tuf? what is tuf? Love the metal detector that works under water.. love the dinosaur egg... love the smiley bag and your new computer news... and that brooch is so fabulous!
However, the big one is: (mouth aghast open)... cannot imagine you not knitting! Still, I guess we all have a break from everything at one time or another. Have a regenerating hiatus :)
Hope all the scary deadline stuff is over now too.
Kx

you can sew instead or draw, the knitting thing will return, BTDT.

What a shocker when the puter dies - know that one too! I am typing on the gallifreyan laptop, this thing has carked and been resurrected multiple times lately. There is no longer anything on here that doesn't also exist elsewhere!! And a new one seems like the thing, but setting up all your stuff is *such* a pain. Glad you are back up and running!

AS long as the white fungus is growing on the egg and not on your - s'all good!

A reel dinasur tuf - I'm at the dentist on Tuesday, you want me to ask? ;-)

I want to know about the popup dragon!

Overall, a great collection of thises and thats. I go through very serious phases with the knitting needles--it's either all love or all refusal for me. And, I love the dinosaur egg, but I'm betting standing next to it would make me sneeze!

That brooch is stupendous. You lucky thing.

Right. Your middle's request caused me to pop on my nerd hat from when me old job was 'Finder of Things on the electronic Web'. I found this pack with actuwell fossil tuf, eggshell etc:

http://www.ukge.co.uk/UK/product.asp?numRecordPosition=3&P_ID=4066&strPageHistory=&strKeywords=&SearchFor=&PT_ID=613

Also found purveyor of genwyne dinasur pooz at very reasonable prices.

http://www.tellmewhereonearth.com/Web%20Pages/Poop/Poop_Page_2.htm

Whilst looking I found an ebay listing for said 'coprolites' The condition was described as 'used'.

Happy weekend in winterland.

BTW Algie the alga and his mate Minnie the mould are obviously making their own ecosystem. Next thing you know stuff will evolve and climb off there and run about in your garden. Ace!

Please take a slice of my knitting mojo for yourself... I have more than I have time to use at the moment.

And good luck with that birthday list. I see that boy of yours goes for quality not quantity.
(We have PAGE 2 attached to the bottom of the xmas list - I kid you not - stuck to the fridge here).

Hope you find that dinosaur tuf.

I love the green egg!
Oh my, not knitting, I can't imagine... don't worry, I am sure the need TO knit will soon return:)
Have a lovely weekend,

Lovely brooch! It does look rather perfect for you.
Your faces always make me smile. I should look for more around me.
Good luck with the knitting mojo and the present getting. That's quite a list!

The birthday list is just so touching. I love their writing at this stage- and when you get into the mindset of it, it is so easy to read. So logical. Perfect.
GrannieBean had a metal detector for her birthady last year. We managed to loose quite a few coins trying it out on the beach. The blinking thing wouldn't beep at us even when we could see the coins and it was hovering right over them. Good luck to you Middle in your quest for treasure hunting...
Happy Weekend to you folk, Ax

great brooch, egg is looking fab, hope the green wins over the white and maybe a real dinosaur tooth perhaps? (because just I have a draw full of that sort of stuff just lying around awaiting birthday season)

flowerpress said...

Love all of that, except the noknit, but it will pass, cannot be forced :-)
Glad to see the middle has inherited the exclamatory inclinations and I really hope he's getting a dtecta, what fun!

For some reason I cannot look at my knitting sticks either. Gone...mojo...gone.

I hope it will come back.....some day. xx

The egg is looking fab and how gorgeous is your brooch :)

I have only just managed to pick up my needles after retiring them months ago...though the pace is rather slow.

Happy weekend to you.

Egg is loking good; except the white mouldy bit ~ green is just so more appealing; can you pick it off or retard its growth it somehow?
What a happy bag; which reminded me I saw this last week and have been meaning to pop over and show you since: http://lilfishstudios.blogspot.com/2011/06/sour-puss.html
Birthdays lists are spectacular. I have just been told I am getting none of the things on mine at all! probably have to make myself a cake too. My face is beginning to look like that rubarb (see link)
