...and a Make it in May Skirt Sew-Along contribution is completed – JUST IN THE NICK OF TIME.
I can’t express the ridiculousness of posing an entirely motionless sprint finish while balancing on a wooden beam while Mr Myrtleandeunice takes a few forevers to take a pic.
On reflection I can see that I really should have ironed with care and possibly even attention, rather than in a sprint-finish, haphazard blur. On reflection, I can see that I really should consider a visit to a chiropractor (it’s not the skirt that’s crooked).

The skirt is a ClothKits purchase and I’ve been trying to grow taller since it arrived.

Usually I’m a slightly shorter a-line skirt wearer, (longer skirts make me feel 153cm and stumpy-looking) but I couldn’t bring myself to hem through those parked cars and ruin all that nice perspective.
Located not far from my London workplace, I’ve walked past the Trellick Tower, alongside those parked cars, a few times. I never imagined I’d be back in Australia, no taller and three children later, walking around looking 153cm and stumpy and WEARING the Trellick Tower.

You can sign up for Cam’s Make it in May Skirt Sew-Along over here. Best make it like Speedy Gonzales.
.........................
PS. There’s a really lovely Rob Ryan skirt over at ClothKits. Like the Trellick version, it comes with the pattern printed on to the fabric, lining, facings, excellent instructions, zip and thread. Best suited to tall persons, those with patience to rejig a pattern, or those who can work a lengthy a-line without coming over stumpy.
PPS. I know it seems as though I’ve disappeared from this space – but in my own head I haven’t! (I enjoy this bloggy-lark too much). Apart from skin-of-the-teeth skirt making, I’ve been bizzy ‘stepping up’ to that real-world parenting gig. Geez, there’s some cathartic writing brewing, on that particular business.
PPPS. So hope all is going along swimmingly in your world.

Was so excited to see a MyrtleandEunice post pop up in the reader. It's like an delicious unexpected treat when it does!
The skirt is fab and if you wear some shoes with taller heels, you won't look stumpy. ;) (I don't think you look stumpy at all btw.)
Off to peruse ClothKits. I am intrigued.
Haha! Love this skirt (I have the same one in orange!) LOVE the Trellick Tower and you look great in it too, iron or no iron ;) And yes, where the bloody hell have you been?!! Pick your act up Mrs ;) Kx
T that skirt is fabulous - love the pattern and the blue on black way you were wearing it.
Parenting! this year is killing me slowly, between the hyper stressed year 12 and the full on angsty year 9. Sybil ( of the 57 personalities fame) and Kurt (Cobain) come to mind...
Now, now... 153cm is a PERFECT height.
Loving the skirt and the complete lack of stumpiness associated with the wearing of....
Gorgeous. That fabric is unreal!
No, no, not stumpy at all; perhaps just a little 'bookish'.
Groovy skirt! I wait patiently for your cathartic writing, as I've been brewing a bit of my own lately. Wishing you supermum powers and a nice afternoon.
xo
Looking forward to hearing about your parenting tales.
Parenting...it's a tough gig.
As for the other...the craft. Three cheers for a deadline. Best under pressure and all that.
I've missed you...but then I've missed myself too ;)
Oh, is it the last day of May? I have lost my diary so I am abit ummm, mental! Anyway, mine skirt is done, I've done two, actually...but blogging about them- hmmmm. I've been doing abit of that heavy duty parenting malarky- particularly intensely with the 11 year old grade 6 sensitive soul. I look forward to reading your thoughts...
Oh- by the way- I LOVE it that your skirt has a picture of your history on it- gee I LOVE THAT. I lived in an apartment near a coffee shop in Vienna and I would really love having that coffee shop on a skirt. I think it would cheer me up!

I love this skirt the fabric is fantastic
I love it! It's perfect!
There's nothing like a bit of deadline-crafty-peer-pressure sew along to move things along.
Thanks so much for joining in!
I love the skirt! And the associated phtoto shoot. I, like others, dont think it looks stumpy at all, but I do get where you're coming from- anything that says 'on the waist' to me means that it will feel like its under my armpits! Does it have a waistband or yoke? If you find you're not wearing it, give me a shout for some alterations!
Great skirt, love the fabric design how unique! You should also enter this skirt into crafterhours skirt week competition
http://www.crafterhoursblog.com/
The skirt looks FAB! Not stumpy, and so excellent that it has some of your personal history on it.
Great to meet you at craft camp. xx
I think perhaps in your bloggy hiatus you've lost your marbles a little, as I see no stumpiness in sight here.
Just cuteness and a groovy skirt.
I love the skirt. It's gorgeous!
Cute skirt! It's good to know I'm not the only one pushing deadlines : )
I too think your skirt is most fabulous but I also fucking love those boots!
Love the fabric and you aren't stumpy are you ?
I'm still hoping to grow taller too but it doesn't seem to ever happen so I just chop big bits off and make really big hems... (Love your skirt)>
153? I couldn't sworn your were 154.5 in that pic.
Since the skirt is a London skirt, it's on London time and the skin of your teeth were just fine, it's only 7:36am at time of commenting.
Swimmingly?
er, not really no. drowningly with the occasionaly paddlingly.
Now, I love a bit of clothkits, and very often seen in a printed something aged 7 ish.
I bought a pinnie to make for SmallerBean. What a total balls up that was, so am very very reluctant to mess up a birdie skirt for me.
Will just have to look at yours enviously. And those boots too...
Happy day, Ax
Love the fabric, and I think it looks great!
Ok, I'll be honest. That first pic, I thought it was one of your kiddos. But, really, you're adorable, and so is the skirt. Very cute! (In a very tallish, grown-up-ish kind of way.)
That skirt is amazeballs. I am resisting the urge to utilise 'totes' at this juncture. It is tricky.
I love the skirt! I had the same too-long problem with my clothkits skirt, it looks a teensy bit librarianish on me. The Mr helpfully suggested trimming it, but that would have left me with a legless horse (I have the Magic Tree one).
And I love that Trellick print! We have the same thing as a tea-towel framed and hanging over the bed, because I lived round the corner from it in London, and having no sense of direction it was very helpful when navigating home.
Awesome skirt. I just had a look at some of the other prints available...very nice indeed.
Love the speedy pic :-)
What a fab skirt, I love it! I'm a short arse too... probably around your height though I don't do metric for heights - I'm 5foot1!
My heart skipped a beat at that fabric. I would not describe you as stumpy at all. x
Brilliant.
YOU'RE brilliant too.
I love it ! And it's not at all teeny-making ... you look very leggy and chic in it .... not to mention speedy .
Oh I love this skirt! Not one bit stumpy either.
I know what you mean about a longer a-line skirt being the direct path to becoming a frump - but I think this one is just short enough to avoid that, there's a bit of shapely knee, to prove that there are actually legs under there (which is very important). I'm 5'4" with a long body and incredibly short legs - trust me, I KNOW!
